Today marks a milestone I’ve been working toward for months - Torny has officially been submitted to the Apple App Store for review. This isn’t just a technical achievement; it’s the culmination of countless hours of coding, testing, refining, and most importantly, listening to an incredible community that believed in this vision from the start.
Building Torny wasn’t a solo journey. When we opened up beta testing on Discord, I hoped we’d find a handful of enthusiastic bowlers willing to kick the tyres and report bugs. What we got was so much more than that.
Thirty testers from around the world joined our Discord community. From Canada to England, South Africa to New Zealand, Australia and beyond - bowlers from every corner of the globe became part of the team. From morning practice sessions to late-night training across different time zones, these bowlers didn’t just test - they became part of the team. They pushed the app to its limits, found edge cases I’d never imagined, and brought ideas that fundamentally improved what Torny could do.
What struck me most wasn't just the bug reports or feature requests - though those were invaluable. It was the spirit of the community. Testers would jump on Discord to help each other troubleshoot issues. They'd share their training data and discuss how they were using the app in ways I hadn't thought of. They celebrated wins together and problem-solved challenges as a group.
But something even more profound happened. They would share their thoughts and excitement about where Torny could go. A few put their hand up and offered to help improve the structure of the Discord group itself. That changed everything for me - it changed how I felt about the direction of Torny.
This could be community-based. That's what we all wanted. Not just an app, but a movement built by bowlers, for bowlers.
It made me realize that we need to build community into the heart of Torny itself - so we can all train together, improve together, and encourage one another. That's what makes this special.
Some of the best features in Torny today came directly from our Discord testers:
Every suggestion wasn’t just recorded - it was discussed, debated, and when it made sense, built into the app. Our testers didn’t just report what was broken; they helped envision what Torny could become.
To everyone in our Discord community who spent their time testing, reporting, suggesting, and supporting - thank you. You took time away from your own training to help build something that will help bowlers worldwide train smarter. That's generosity I won't forget.
You've proven something I believed from the start: lawn bowls has one of the most welcoming, collaborative communities in sport. The spirit you brought to testing reflects the spirit of the game itself.
Now we wait for Apple’s review process. It typically takes a few days to a couple of weeks. While we wait, the Discord community continues to thrive - planning for future features, discussing training strategies, and building the foundation for what Torny will become.
It's spring now, and our tomatoes are sprouting in the garden. Noah and I water them each day, watching tiny seedlings push through the soil toward the sun. We nurture them, give them what they need to grow strong.
That's what we're doing with Torny. This small, passionate community brings something different to the garden: feedback, ideas, encouragement, patience. Together, we're giving these early seeds what they need - water, sunlight, and care - watching them push through toward something special.
When Torny goes live, those first 1000 founding members will get lifetime access, completely free. Our testers are already in, and there’s still room for more bowlers who want to be part of nurturing this from the very beginning.
With this community tending the garden together, we can help Torny grow into something that helps bowlers worldwide train smarter, improve faster, and support each other along the way.
If you’re reading this and thinking “I want to be part of that community,” you’re welcome to join. Whether you’re a beginner just learning draw shots or a seasoned competitor fine-tuning your game, there’s a place for you.
The App Store submission is done. Now comes the exciting part - launching Torny into the world and continuing to build something special together.
